Terms of Service & Donation Policy
Effective Date: August 17th, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Everyday Humanitarians (“EH,” “we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms govern your use of our website and services and set our donation policy. By using our site or donating, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, please don’t use the site. See our Legal Notice for corporate details and disclaimers.
2. What we do (summary)
EH pools small recurring donations (e.g., 99¢/month, billed quarterly) into a Goal Pot. When the pot hits its target, we send funds to either:
- a specific project listed on a public page (when available), or
- an ongoing program (available any time).
We then publish our own redacted receipt and a public link to the project/program page (when available). We rotate causes over time (food, animals, trees/climate, education, medical, water, disaster).
3. User Eligibility
To use our website and services, you must be at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you may use our platform with parental or guardian consent.
4. Acceptable use
You may only use our website for lawful purposes. Any activities that may disrupt the platform or harm its integrity are prohibited. Violations may lead to restricted access.
5. Donations & billing
Recurring donations. Donations are recurring only (quarterly or annual subscriptions; no one-time donations). Our default is recurring (e.g., 99¢/month, billed quarterly to reduce fees). By subscribing, you authorize charges each cycle until you cancel.
Processors. Payments run via third-party processors (e.g., Donorbox/Stripe). We do not store your payment information.
Currency & fees. Donations are processed in the currency shown at checkout. Your bank/processor may add FX or other fees.
One-time gifts. If/when offered, they’ll be clearly labeled and covered by these Terms.
No tax receipts. EH is a registered nonprofit but not a registered charity. We do not issue official donation receipts for income tax purposes.
6. How funds are allocated
90/10 split.- 90% → sent to the selected project/program when the Goal Pot hits its target.
- 10% → “Powers the movement” (admin filings to remain registered, payment processing, domain/hosting, website & tech, translation, basic content/growth spend).
Pooling & timing. Donations are pooled and disbursed after the Goal Pot target is met. Timing can vary (holidays, time zones, processor holds).
If plans change. If a selected project becomes unavailable or unsuitable, we may reallocate to the closest public, verifiable alternative within the same cause area (or the next cycle) and will document the change in our ledger.
7. Project Selection & verification
We fund pages we can link to publicly (when available) and then publish our receipt.
Two funding types:
- Specific projects (when available): clear, small, concrete projects. These may be executed by third-party organizations or managed directly by us. Projects are chosen based on alignment with our mission, impact potential, and transparency.
- Ongoing programs: pooled initiatives with measurable units (meals, trees, meds, supplies, water filters provided etc.).
What you should expect:
- For specific projects, you’ll see our receipt and a link to the project page and photos when available.
- For ongoing programs, you’ll see our receipt and a link to the program/impact page (updates are representative, not tied to our exact $).
We do not promise project-specific photos for every disbursement.
8. Transparency: receipts, ledger, and links
We aim to publish our redacted receipt and the public link within 24–72 hours after sending funds. All disbursements appear in our open ledger.
Linking & embeds. We may link to or embed third-party pages/posts strictly for transparency. Links/embeds do not imply partnership or endorsement.
Media rights. We generally do not re-host third-party images/logos without permission. When images appear, they may be illustrative and noted as such.
9. Refund & Cancellations
Refunds (donations)
All donations are final and non-refundable, as they directly support charitable initiatives. However, we may issue refunds in the following cases:
- Duplicate donations
- Processing errors
- Unauthorized transactions (e.g., if a stolen card was used)
If you believe you qualify for a refund, please contact us within 14 days of the transaction at [email protected].
